Machine Learning Engineer
Location: Docklands, VIC | Hybrid (3 days in office)
Salary: Up to $190k + super
How often do you get the chance to be the first ML Engineer hire in a major enterprise? This role is exactly that – joining at the start of a machine learning journey that’s already got exec buy-in and real-world use cases lined up.
You’ll be working hand-in-hand with the Head of AI & ML to identify, build, and deliver high-value AI use cases across one of the most diverse and interesting business portfolios in the region. The remit is broad: healthcare, logistics, supply chain, animal care, manufacturing – the opportunities to apply ML are endless.
What you’ll be doing
- Building, deploying, and productionising complex ML models at enterprise scale
- Embedding models into real business processes – not just proof-of-concepts, but models that people actually use
- Running MLOps practices in Databricks – monitoring, retraining, governance, and keeping models sharp
- Working with the business to define where AI adds value and delivering on it
- Evaluating external vendor solutions and integrating them when it makes sense
Who you are
- You’ve delivered end-to-end ML projects in a large-scale environment (and can talk through the war stories)
- Skilled with Databricks, Python, MLOps frameworks and comfortable taking things from code to production
- You understand the importance of governance and guardrails when rolling out ML in the real world
- You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves, but can also explain complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders
- You want to be in a role where you’re not just “another ML Engineer” – you’re helping define how ML is done
👉 This isn’t a research role. It’s delivery, impact, and ownership. If you want to see your models in action, this is the spot.
