About the Role

As an AI Product Engineer, you will own the entire lifecycle of AI-powered features—from strategy to execution. This role blends product management, engineering, and design, empowering you to define user needs, build AI-driven solutions, and iterate rapidly based on real-world feedback.

You’ll be at the forefront of our intelligent automation initiative, developing AI solutions that transform how community sports are administered. These innovations are central to our vision of addressing the volunteer shortage by making administrative tasks simpler, faster, and more intuitive, enabling a smaller volunteer base to support growing participation while maintaining the human connection essential to community sports.

What Success Looks Like

  • Delivering fully realised AI-powered features that transform how community sports are administered
  • Working closely with administrators and sports organisations to understand their needs and shape solutions
  • Using AI to streamline administration, automate workflows, and enhance decision-making for volunteers
  • Designing, prototyping, and iterating rapidly on product concepts
  • Taking full ownership of projects, driving them independently while collaborating with the team
  • Building systems that measurably increase the number of players each volunteer can support

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, design, and develop AI-powered features end-to-end
  • Actively gather and interpret customer feedback to refine product direction
  • Design and implement NLP solutions and knowledge graphs, ensuring they deliver real value
  • Create intuitive interfaces that allow volunteers to benefit from AI without technical expertise
  • Debug, optimise, and scale AI-powered solutions for performance and reliability
  • Own the success of your features—from concept to launch to iteration

Requirements

  • Experience driving a product forward independently, from idea to execution
  • Strong product mindset, with experience working across engineering, design, and user research
  • Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and React, with experience in building user-facing applications
  • Experience with AI/ML technologies, particularly in natural language processing or conversational AI
  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and the challenges of building reliable AI systems
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • STEM degree preferred

Bonus

  • Experience with knowledge graphs or vector databases
  • Familiarity with our tech stack: AWS, GraphQL, GO, TypeScript
  • Background in sports administration or experience with volunteer organisations
