Developer Relations Engineer, Android, Play, Games (Japanese, English)

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 3 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.
  
• Experience in System performance analysis.
• Experience in working with game engines such as Unity or Unreal, and in developing games in one or more programming languages (e.g., C, C++, or C#).
• Ability to communicate in Japanese and English fluently to interact with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in technical leadership, technical consulting or working with partners/customers/developers community.
• Experience with Android tooling such as Renderdoc, Perfetto, Frame Pacing API, SurfaceFlinger, GFXReconstruct and Android GPU Inspector.
• Experience in Low level Graphics/GPU coding with DirectX12, Vulkan or Metal.
• Excellent public speaking skills, with experience presenting to technical audiences.

In this role, you provide the engineering consultation and guidance to game partner companies in using Google’s technologies and bring back their feedback to improve them. You also communicate internally with Product Managers. Play, Android, are just some of the platforms you promote and support. Your work fosters a community of game developers working with Google technologies and helps to drive strategy around Developer Relations. Because of the important opportunities with game partner companies in Japan, this role is based in Tokyo.

Responsibilities

• Work with game developers and game engines in Japan (and APAC) to support exciting new product integrations on Android devices, PC, and the Play Games platform.
• Optimize AAA/AA/III game titles, resolve engineering problems with technologies and scale to improve the overall gaming ecosystem.
• Advocate for game developers internally and influence Google developer product strategy by working with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Business Development, PR and other cross-functional teams.
• Drive regular, engineering-focused workshops + meetings with developers to optimize the gaming experience and resolve complex technical problems at a scale of millions of users. These communications would often be done in Japanese to provide the best possible experience for partners in the region.
